Feet

The Slab is a floor plate that gets your remote camera down low. Mount the camera straight to the plate, or put a ball head on it. There's a second 1/4-20 hole in the groove for a PocketWizard.

Two feet screw in at the front to tilt the camera up. Pick standard feet for level shots up to about 13°, long feet to aim higher, from about 12° up to 24.4°, or get both to cover the full range.

The plate and the feet are printed separately, so you can pick a different colour for each.

Ordering 2 or more? Every Slab comes with both standard and long feet, and the long feet are free. Pick Standard + long: $58 for one, $50 each for 2 or more. The discount comes off in the cart.

The long feet start where the standard feet run out. Below about 12°, use the standard feet, because the long rods stand 42-73 mm above the plate there.

There's no setting between level and about 2° with the feet in, because the feet are 7 mm tall. Take them out to shoot level.

Don't back the feet out past flush with the top of the plate. They'll keep turning, but they get wobbly.

  • Lens clearance: the rods leave about 95 mm between them, so a wider lens or hood over the front corners can touch them.
  • Balance: at full tilt, a tall ball head with a short lens can tip backward.
  • Knocks: the rods are plastic and extend furthest at full tilt, so keep them clear of kicks and foot traffic.

All angles are for a camera mounted straight on the plate. On a ball head, the head sets the angle.

A: Yes. Pick the long feet for up to 24.4°, or put a ball head on the plate. The bolt to mount it is in the box.

Q: Which feet should I pick?
A: Standard for level shots and low angles, up to about 13°. Long for anything aimed higher, up to 24.4°. Want both? Pick Standard + long.
